OVERVIEW
Subscription Search allows financial professionals who subscribe to T. Rowe Price content to add additional financial literature to their subscription list so they can stay up to date with the latest investment product updates.

HERE'S THE ISSUE...
The current experience does not differentiate between the new and returning user, users have to navigate through different flows/screens to find investment content, then more flow to get to the screen where they can subscribe to investment content.

OVERVIEW
Subscription Search allows financial professionals who subscribe to T. Rowe Price content to add additional financial literature to their subscription list so they can stay up to date with the latest investment product updates.

GOAL
To consolidate subscription content into one page and make it feasible for users to search, view, subscribe (bulk and single), and ability to learn more about each subscription if they choose to, without leaving the subscription page.

RESEARCH
Thorough UX Audit of existing state —To gain more insights into how might we create a seamless experience for our users to learn about an investment product and subscribe under one umbrella, we did a thorough UX audit of the current experience to identify pain points and areas of enhancement opportunities.

FINDINGS
Documented our findings for the First time user use case, took notes on some questions that arose during this process, and connected with the Product Owner.
I noted down answers to some of the outstanding questions after some clarity from the SMEs.

Design Explorations

Exp-1

In this design exploration, I removed the profile at the top to generate more space for other content. Users are now able to search for investment content. I also asked the PO for the list of literature that users usually subscribed to, and then created a grid at the bottom allowing users that do not know what to search for to easily select from the recommendations.

Exp-2

In this design exploration, I explored a recommended section at the bottom using cards to provide more detail on the recommended literature where users can easily read, and subscribe.

Exp-3

In this design exploration, I kept the profile section as is should the business want to stick with how things were as part of MVP

Design Iterations

Design Iterations

I presented the initial design to the team and gathered some feedback.
1. Keep the profile as is for this MVP
2. Update recommendation cards to a carousel, that way we can add as many recommendations as possible

Testing Design with Users

To make sure that the design that we've explored works, I collaborated with a Content Strategist/UX Writer to come up with a list of tasks and specific scenarios to test for.
We conducted unmoderated testing on usertesting.com, and watched recorded sessions of how users interacted with the prototype, their pain points, and suggestions.
We then synthesize these findings, next step is to iterate the design with findings and continue to simplify the subscription experience.

Conclusion

The collaboration with the Product Owner, UX Writer, and Engineering team allows for the success of this project.
We went through the process of understanding the business needs and user pain points through research, feedback, and iteration.
As the sole UX Designer on this project, I leverage these collaborations to gather the information needed to help support my design explorations.
As the TRP Beacon Design System evolves, we will continue to iterate this design in our pursuit of a continuous seamless experience for the users.

Thank you!
